The time span of a kindergarten, primary and
intermediate level student to listen to his/her teacher is about 10 to 20
minutes. Lessons are meant to be interesting and they need to address what
students need to know during these very 10 - 20 minutes. Lack of interest on
the part of students is usually caused by improper focus on what should be
conveyed by the teacher. Students are keen to learn when there is a focus or a
goal towards which the lesson is geared. Obviously, when students are at a
better stage to promote their attention span to the next level, they tend to
divert their focus towards better activities placed in front them by their
teacher. Often, students are truly motivated to pursue a better day at school
with the hope that they learn something after each period’s end. At times, when the lesson is misled or that it takes an abrupt turn to a “land of
nowhere”, that’s when students get bored and they do not appreciate what is
being instructed to them. Lessons are meant to be well-planned and well-managed
by a teacher. Sharing lessons forms part of the most essential part of the
teacher’s day. Students often question the objective of a lesson which isn't
well-focused and well-oriented towards the theme being taught. Thus, lesson sharing
should be made simple so that students are well at ease with what they pursue
during the school-day. To all teachers who are conscientious about the
activities they have in mind, originality and simplicity are the keys to better shape them.
