Star
Wars: Rogue One
A
Star Wars Story
~ A Short briefing by Vimal Kodai ~
Gareth Edwards' Star Wars: Rogue One
Star
Wars: Rogue One, is brought to life through the artistic and
science-fiction guild talent of the newcomer director to the Star Wars
franchise, Gareth Edwards. A prequel to the first ever Star Wars movie (Star Wars: A New Hope—released
officially in 1977) directed by George Lucas, and a sequel to Star Wars: Revenge of the Siths, Gareth
Edwards’ Star Wars: Rogue One sets
off on a faraway distant planet where an ex-engineer of the Galactic Empire (Galen
Erso—incarnated by actor, Mads Mikkelsen) lives and survives peacefully
alongside his wife and daughter.
Star Wars: Rogue One's Darth Vader
Star Wars: Rogue One's Galen Erso
Galen Erso who holds the missing link to fully
completing the construction of the Death
Star lives off the land by doing
farming on this remote planet. He wishes to have no business or ties to the
evil-minded, Darth Vader (role held by actor, Spencer Wilding).
Admiral Orson Krennic (Role incarnated by actor Ben Mendelsohn)
Rebel Saw Gerrera (Role played by actor Forest Whitaker)
Jyn Erso (Lead role taken up by actress Felicity Jones)
A key architect and ex-engineer of the Galactic Empire
whom the mighty Lord of the Dark side, Darth Vader, has been searching for,
Galen Erso is finally intercepted and tracked down by the former. Vader’s admiral
in chief, Orson Krennic (played by actor, Ben Mendelsohn) who leads the way to
apprehending Galen Erso, is determined to remind the latter of his duty and
faithfulness towards the Empire. In the attempt to pursue this course of action,
Galen’s wife is shot down and murdered while the daughter of this very
important engineer succeeds to escape from the scene unharmed. Galen’s
daughter, Jyn Erso (role taken up by actress and starlet, Felicity Jones) survives
the tragic episode and is rescued by her new guardian, a rebel with many
causes, Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker).

Fifteen years later, one of the Resistance teams, led
by Captain Cassian Andor (feature and character played by actor, Diego Luna) is
missioned to capture Jyn Erso and have her lead the way to tracking her father,
Galen Erso. The Resistance is determined to obtain the original schematics of
the Death Star. Apparently, the ‘missing in action’ ex-engineer of the
Galactic Empire, has again joined Darth Vader and applied his ingenious
abilities to fully construct the Death
Star. Now, the Resistance fleet of
Princess Leah, is setting up a plot to destroy the Death Star. To do so,
they require the schematics of the Death
Star at all costs. Therefore, by
finding Galen Erso, they will be able to increase their chances and likelihood
of attaining this sole objective. Jyn Erso, the daughter of this engineer is
supposedly the one and only who knows how and where to find her guardian, Saw Gerrera—the
one who can lead the Resistance to Galen. Her capture is eminent and very
crucial to this mission of the Resistance fleet. The latter will be directed
straight to its right destination with Jyn on board.
Thus, the plot of Star
Wars: Rogue One takes its course and the sees itself finding newer and
newer adventures that explode with: explosives, gunshots, fights in outer-space
that are filled with thrills, martial arts combats and fighting scenes
undertaken by actor Donnie Yen who plays the role of character Chirrut Imwe;
stealing of the schematics of destroying the Death Star from another
remote planet, thrill fights and battle on this remote planet’s paradisiac
island, escape from many misadventures, the killing of the Admiral of Galactic
Empire—Orson Krennic, and finally, the handing over of the schematics to
Princess Leah. These will all lead to the movie which has already been released
in 1977 and which stands for a brand new hope. George Lucas’s Star Wars: A New Hope has found itself a
major starter and refilled prequel which targets this same new hope as being
the ultimate goal of the Resistance.

Star Wars: Rogue One
Star Wars: Rogue One gives a very different but new perspective on how George Lucas's 1977, Star Wars: A New Hope came to be. It has a new storyline which relates very closely to the networking ideology behind all the Star Wars movies. It gives a whole new glimpse and an original outlook of an entirely amazing Star Wars story.
